Obsessive Compulsion Disorder– also known as OCD, is an anxiety disorder in which time people have recurring, unwanted thoughts, ideas or sensations (obsessions) that make them feel driven to do something repetitively (compulsions). Though OCD is a chronic disease– but recent studies show that it is treatable and the symptoms can be managed through proper diet and medication. I have been diagnosed last month and here are 4 things that helped me cope up with OCD.

Meditation

Anxiety is a cognitive state connected to an inability to regulate your emotional responses to perceived threats. Mindfulness meditation strengthens a person’s cognitive ability to regulate emotions. Mindfulness meditation has long been known as an antidote for anxiety. However, the brain mechanisms involved in meditation-related anxiety .relief were unknown. It helped me in some of my tough times.Start by doing 5 minutes of meditation before you sleep .

 

Go out More

The easiest way and the most effective way to tackle OCD is by going out more. Make it a habit of going out in the evening in your nearby park and start socializing with people around you . The more you keep yourself isolated from the outside world–the worse you will become. According to a study it has been found that Getting close to nature has a calming effect on your brain which relax your mind and body

Stick To Your Routine

You can have an obsessive thought at any time or any place.  Don’t be surprised when old or even new ones occur.  Don‘t let it throw you.  Be prepared to use your therapy tools at any time, and in any place.

Medication

All the above-written methods will work only if you’re taking your medicine regularly. If you want to cure OCD then first you have to accept that you’re ill and need proper medication. Acceptance should be your first step.With proper medication and diet you will overcome your anxiety in no time.Just stay calm and be positive.
